The ones parents ask first.
How it works
Does Kairo ever just give the answer?
Not for homework. Kairo gives one hint at a time, and the answer stays your teen's.
What is earned automation?
It's the idea Kairo is built on: learn a skill well before you hand it to AI. That's how people get the best results from AI at work. They can tell when it's wrong. In Kairo, your teen proves a skill first. Only then can they ask Kairo to do that step on practice problems. Read more about earned automation →
Who decides when a skill is learned?
Kairo does, from your teen's own work. It looks for many right answers on the first try, each with the why. Answers that needed a lot of hints count for less. A wrong answer sets it back. You can lock any skill or unlock one early from Controls.
How does Kairo know it's practice and not homework?
Kairo only does a step on practice problems it picked itself. If your teen types, pastes or snaps a photo of a problem, that's their own work. It doesn't matter what they call it. On their own work, Kairo gives hints, not the answer.
What if my teen asks Kairo to write their essay?
Kairo helps your teen plan, draft and fix their own essay with questions and feedback. The writing stays theirs.
Can Kairo help my teen plan and follow through?
Yes. You or your teen add an assignment and its due date. For an essay or project, Kairo picks a start day. It goes by the hours the work needs and the daily schoolwork time you set. For a quiz or test, it plans study days ahead. It also builds a practice set on the skills you confirm. You see how much of the practice is done. One link puts every date on Google Calendar or another family calendar. Some people call this executive function.
Would my teen's school call this cheating?
On homework and graded work, Kairo gives hints, not answers. You can read every chat word for word. Every school sets its own AI rules, so it's worth checking yours.
What if my teen won't use it?
Kairo plans their week on a board. Each essay or project gets a start day. Each test gets study days before it. You see if they started, and the Sunday recap tells you too.
How does homework get in?
Your teen can type or paste it, snap a photo, or pick a page from a PDF. You can also upload a worksheet or type what's due. Kairo doesn't link to Canvas or Google Classroom yet.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Kairo works in the web browser on a phone or a computer. There's no app to download.
Does it follow my teen's class?
Yes. Homework help works on whatever class your teen is in. For practice, tell Kairo your teen's math course and it picks problems at that level. Courses run from Algebra 1 through Precalculus, plus Statistics and practice for AP® Calculus AB. Honors classes use the same course. AP® is a trademark of College Board. College Board is not affiliated with Kairo and does not endorse it.
Which subjects?
Homework help in every subject, at your teen's level. Practice and learned skills in math, English, science and social studies.
Is this the right Kairo?
Kairo lives only at learnkairo.com. AbaKAiro, Inc. builds it in Nashville. There is no Kairo app in any app store today. Other products named Kairo are not connected to us.
Parent controls
What are the help levels?
You pick one of three for each subject: Off, Hints only or Full. New accounts start on Hints only. Kairo's hints go one step at a time. It asks what they tried, then names the idea behind it. Next comes the first step, then a similar example, then working it through together. Practice problems from Kairo are different. On Full, the full solution opens after 3 real tries. Saying no to a stuck student on a problem that doesn't count helps no one. A real try is an answer, like 4 or B. "I don't know" doesn't count. Full also lets your teen ask Kairo to do a step on a practice problem. They must prove that skill first. That's how people who are great with AI work: they know the job first.
What can I see as a parent?
Every chat, word for word. You also get a calm recap each week. It shows minutes, what was practiced and what they learned. Your child knows you can see it, because we tell them. Nothing hidden from you, nothing hidden from them. A co-parent can have their own sign-in.
Can both parents use Kairo?
Yes. Invite them by email, and they get their own sign-in. You pick what they can do. To start, they can read chats, get the Sunday email, add assignments and choose when Kairo may do a learned step. Only you change the other rules and the bill.
How much can my teen use Kairo?
You decide. You set how many minutes a day your teen can use Kairo, starting at 90 for a new child. You can also set the hours Kairo is on and pause weekends.
Can my younger child use it?
No. Kairo is for teens 13 and up.
Price and plans
How much does it cost, and can I cancel?
Your first 7 days are free. Then it's $25 a month per child, every subject included. We ask for a card when you sign up, and we email you before the free week ends. Cancel in Billing before then and you pay nothing. Each family gets one free week. There's no contract.
Do you have a code?
Enter it at checkout. It applies to your first paid months after the free week.
Do you have a price for siblings?
Each child is $25 a month. There's no sibling discount today.
Why does Kairo cost more than free AI?
Free AI gives your teen the answers. A large study looked at high school math students (Bastani et al., PNAS, 2025). Those who practiced with AI that gave answers scored 17% lower once it was taken away. Kairo gives hints instead. Your teen does the work and learns it. You also see what they still need help with. You get the good parts of AI, with guardrails built for learning.
We already have a tutor. Do we need Kairo?
Kairo works alongside a tutor. A tutor comes once a week. Kairo is there every night in between, for $25 a month. And your dashboard shows what to work on at the next session.
Safety and privacy
Is it safe?
Kairo is a tutor made for teens. It won't help with anything harmful, and no setting or story changes that. If your teen is having a hard time, it points them to a trusted adult and to real help.
Is my teen's data private?
We remove emails, phone numbers and addresses from text before it goes to the AI. The tutor runs on AI from Anthropic. Your teen's chats are not used to train AI models. Names stay, because history and books need them. Homework photos go to our AI provider to be read. We don't keep them. We can't remove details inside a photo, so have your teen photograph only the problem. Worksheet pages and scanned files go as pictures too, so we can't remove details inside them. We keep a file you upload so you can open it again. You can delete it any time.
